This is the filter from the humidifier manufacturer, not one of those phony so called oem filters that are poor substitutes for the real thing. This filter lasts a few years, which is much more than the off brand replacements. And the price is great!

Years of using this type, all good

The Bemis/Essick H12 is one of the few humidifiers out there capable of helping in anything other than a closed, small room. I’ve been using mine for over 5 years now with no problems, although I have a second one that requires I crank the knob almost all the way up to get a normal setting.

That said, the filters I’ve gotten have usually lasted about half the winter, which in our climate means that I use two a year.

However, now I’ve gotten a water softener, and as promised by the softener companies, I can just clean off the filter once and it goes the whole winter.

I also use a bateriostat and occasionally a water treatment, both readily available for humidifiers of this evaporative type.
